Early March Madness Predictions

March Madness is right around the corner and its about time for some predictions.
Most overrated going into the tournament
I'm going to have to give this title to Georgetown. They may luck out with getting to play a patsy in the first round but don't expect them to advance much further.
Most underrated going into tournament
Nobody is talking about Kansas St. and that's why they are in this spot
Bubble Team that can surprise the country if they get in San Diego State without a doubt. Wont have the greatest record and wont win the Mountain West but this very athletic team can be dangerous. Snubbed last year, look out if they get in this year.

February 16th's NCAAB Picks
Cincinnati (15-9) @ S. Florida (15-9)
Two bubble teams go at it in this big east battle. Slight favorite USF will have the home court advantage but i'm not going to agree with the "experts".
PICK: Cincinnati
#25Wake Forest (18-5) @ Virgina Tech (20-4)
Close game but being at home helps.
PICK: Virgina Tech
#2Kentucky (24-1) @ Mississippi St (18-7)
Maybe closer than expected but an easy pick for me when we're talking about the #2 team in the country.
PICK: Kentucky
OTHER PICKS:
#11Michigan St. (20-6) @ Indiana (9-15) PICK: Michigan St
Texas Tech (16-8) @ #23Baylor (19-5) PICK: Baylor
North Carolina (14-11) @ Georgia Tech (17-8) PICK: UNC
San Diego St. (18-7) @ TCU (12-14) PICK: SDSU

TCU blows shot at title consideration

If TCU would have been able to beat #6 Boise St in this years Fiesta Bowl, they would have finished 13-0 and earned a spot in the discussion for National Title. Ofcourse it would have had to been an AP National Title, split with the BCS title winner but that's not exactly chop liver. If Alabama ends up winning then it may not matter. Yet, if Texas wins the BCS title game then one would be forced to ponder, should the title be split with another team from Texas? Unlike Boise St, one could make a good argument that TCU played a worthy schedule. Lets take a look. They beat ACC member Virginia on the road, 9-5 Clemson on the road, 8-5 SMU, 8-5 Air Force on the road,11-2 BYU on the road, 10-3 Utah, and 7-6 Wyoming again on the road. I should mention that Clemson, SMU, Air Force, BYU, Utah and Wyoming all won their bowl games. This all sounds great until you remember it doesnt matter since they lost to Boise St in their own bowl game. The NFL live crew would say,"Come on man!" The Horned Frogs had a remarkable season but it's too bad they didn't give themselves a chance to enter the National Title Discussion.

Boise St Deserving of National Title?

It's now been a few days removed from Boise St's win in the Fiesta Bowl and this question keeps poppin up: Does 14-0 Boise St deserve a claim to this years National Title? There is no question that this team is very good and that they could come into a game and beat anyone. Boise St supporters will point to their 2007 Fiesta Bowl victory over Oklahoma and impressive wins this year over Oregon and TCU to prove that point. But does beating a 3 loss Oregon and Mountain West opponent TCU mean they deserve a title shot this year? Possibly.Lets see what other quality wins they have this year. Wait, they don't have any other quality wins. Some will say, hey they beat Nevada, a pretty good team with three 1,000 yard rushers. Then, i'd hope they remembered that Nevada was 8-4, lost to 6-6 Notre Dame 35-0 and got blown out by SMU in the Hawaii bowl. Okay, any others? How about Fresno State? I mean didnt they beat Illinois? Yes they did, but so did everybody else this year. 8-5 Fresno St a quality win? Anybody else? I wouldn't expect anyone to call wins against UC Davis,Bowling Green,Miami(OH),Idaho,New Mexico St, San Jose St,Hawaii, Utah st, and Louisiana Tech quality. None of this is really Boise St's fault but that doesnt mean we can ignore their horrible schedule and say they deserve a spot next to title contenders that have to deal with actual competition every week of the regular season. I'd tell Broncos they had a great season, even if it wasn't title worthy, and if they can run the table next year they will deserve a shot. Good luck Boise St.

BCS National Title
Unfortunately, the end of the College Football Season is near with the finale on Thursday night in Pasadena. The National Championship game will feature #1 Alabama and #2 Texas. After Texas' less than spectacular performance in the Big 12 championship and Bama's rout of Tim Tebow's Florida, many expect Alabama to roll over the Longhorns. As Lee Corso says, Not so fast! I won't go into specific matchups and stats, ESPN can do that, but i will say do not sleep on Texas. They've had to hear for a month now that Bama should and will win. Look for the Longhorns to come in with a chip on their shoulder. Oh, and don't forget the last time Texas came to Pasadena as the underdog. Texas 24, Bama 20
