Week 1 Picks

Picks for Week 1's weekday games

THURSDAY

North Carolina @ #6 South Carolina
The Gamecocks are hovering around 10pt favorites at home and they should be but I am interested to see UNC and QB Bryn Renner. I think UNC keeps this game competitive until their in-state rivals wear them down.
UNC 20, South Carolina 29

Utah St. @ Utah
Utah St. won last year in an entertaining close one and this year's game should be even better. Utah will have more talent and the home crowd, but if they can't stop Aggies QB Chuckie Keeton, they will be in trouble.
Utah St 26, Utah 31

Ole Miss @ Vanderbilt
Should be a good opener and we will get to see who makes an impact from the Rebels #1 recruiting class.
Ole Miss 31, Vanderbilt 23

Rutgers at Fresno St
There are probably a lot of people that don't even know what conference Fresno St plays in but after tonight, the college football population will know about the Bulldogs and QB Derek Carr. They have an opportunity to open some eyes.
Rutgers 19, Fresno St 31

#24 USC @ Hawaii
Hawaii wont win this game but more intriguing than the outcome is how USC plays, specifically the two QBs competing for the starting job. I think USC will show flashes of who they can be and show us why we can't trust them very much.
USC 38, Hawaii 13

BCS Projections

BCS PROJECTIONS

 BCS Championship
#1Oregon (13-0) vs. #2Kansas St (12-0)

Rose Bowl
Nebraska (11-2) vs. Notre Dame (11-1)

Fiesta Bowl
Texas A&M (10-2) vs. Oklahoma (9-3)

Sugar Bowl
Alabama (12-1) vs. Clemson (10-2)

Orange Bowl
Rutgers (11-1) vs.  Florida St. (10-2)

Other teams in the mix: UCLA (10-3), Florida (11-1), Georgia (11-2), LSU (10-2)

Don't be surprised if Alabama makes back into the mix

Yes, Alabama just lost it's first game of the season and yes, they now sit behind three undefeated teams but do not be surprised if Alabama is once again representing the SEC in the BCS Title game come January 7th. The Crimson Tide are just two losses away from doing just that. The scenario goes like this: Alabama wins out and wins the SEC Title, while Notre Dame falls to USC and then either Kansas St or Oregon lose. Oregon plays Stanford, at Oregon St and either USC or UCLA in the PAC 12 Championship. This will be Oregon's toughest stretch and another game against USC might just be too much for the Ducks to go undefeated but I think Kansas St is more likely to lose. They play at Baylor and Texas, an easier looking schedule, but they haven't been in these situations before and I can absolutely see the Wildcats losing to Texas as SEC fans around the country rejoice. So don't be surprised if on December 2nd when BCS Countdown reveals the BCS top two, it will be #1Oregon and #2Alabama.
